Respecting Creations:
We recognize that the work you produce at Waukesha Makerspace—whether art, prototypes, code, or inventions—belongs to you. Members are encouraged to respect one another’s intellectual property (IP) by not copying, reproducing, or distributing someone else’s work without their explicit consent.
Open-Source & Collaborative Projects:
We celebrate a culture of knowledge-sharing and peer-to-peer learning. Many members choose to share their designs, code, and ideas openly, allowing others to learn, build upon, and improve their work. However, participation in open-source or collaborative projects is always voluntary, and we recommend communicating with project owners or contributors to clarify usage rights, licensing terms, and attribution requirements.
Attribution & Credit:
If you incorporate ideas, designs, or techniques developed by another member or sourced from community-shared projects, please give proper credit. Recognizing the contributions of others helps maintain a positive, supportive environment and encourages continued innovation within our makerspace.
External Publication & Commercial Use:
If you plan to commercialize a project developed at the makerspace or publish it externally (e.g., articles, videos, or instructional guides), we encourage clear and honest communication with all involved parties. Discuss usage rights, royalties, or licensing agreements as needed, and ensure you respect any applicable trademarks, patents, or copyrights.
Resolving Disputes:
Should any conflicts arise regarding ownership, credit, or usage of intellectual property, members are encouraged to address concerns promptly and respectfully. If a resolution cannot be reached, contact a board member or designated mediator for guidance and support.
By respecting intellectual property rights, crediting sources, and communicating openly, we ensure that our makerspace remains a thriving hub of creativity, innovation, and mutual respect.
