Respect & Inclusion:
- Treat everyone with dignity, kindness, and consideration.
- Respect all backgrounds, perspectives, and skill levels.
- Avoid language or actions that could be interpreted as discriminatory, harassing, or hateful.
Collaboration & Community:
- Foster a cooperative spirit by sharing knowledge, offering help when needed, and being receptive to constructive feedback.
- Encourage open dialogue and brainstorming, recognizing that diverse viewpoints lead to innovation and enriched learning experiences.
Safety & Well-Being:
- Follow all safety protocols when using tools, equipment, and materials.
- Wear appropriate protective gear and adhere to posted guidelines for each work area.
- Report any hazards, broken equipment, or unsafe conditions to staff or board members immediately.
Honesty & Integrity:
- Be truthful and transparent in your actions and communications.
- Do not misrepresent yourself or your skill level, and always give proper credit to collaborators.
- Handle others’ work and personal property with care and never take materials or tools without permission.
Responsible Use of Resources:
- Use tools, equipment, and shared materials responsibly, returning them to their proper locations after use.
- Follow maintenance and cleaning protocols to ensure a welcoming environment for all members.
- Use materials efficiently and sustainably, and dispose of waste in designated receptacles.
Privacy & Confidentiality:
- Respect the privacy of fellow members by not photographing or sharing information about their projects without their consent.
- Do not disclose personal information about others without their explicit permission.
Constructive Problem-Solving:
- If conflicts arise, address them calmly, directly, and respectfully.
- Seek assistance from staff, board members, or volunteers if you need help mediating a dispute.
- Strive to find solutions that maintain the positive spirit and integrity of the community.
Reporting Concerns:
If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it to a board member or designated staff person. We take all reports seriously and will maintain confidentiality to the fullest extent possible.
Investigation & Resolution:
The board or a designated committee will review reported incidents promptly, gather relevant information, and determine the appropriate course of action. This may include a formal warning, suspension of membership privileges, or, in severe cases, revocation of membership.
Appeals Process:
Individuals who are subject to disciplinary actions may request a review by the board. Decisions made after appeal are final.
